Half way the elections
A man was sitting behind a desk, while entering the school where the people could vote. He has one task: tell the people where to go. Not really exciting, but someone has to do the job. The school houses four voting-stations. Each of them contains of an five headed election commission, checked by hand full of local observers and us, the internationals. Me and Elena had to sit for about half an hour at each station. See what is going on, write down irregularities and so on.
A man is entering the room. He is asked for his right finger, to be checked with an UV-lamp. After that he has to provide identification, sign on the list and receives the voting-bill and got sprayed by UV-ink. He cast his vote, and leaves the room again. This procedure will go on whole day. People come, say hi, votes and chat afterwards about anything but politics.
At two o’clock we saw two schools, 12 voting-places and no irregularities. No difficulties at all, accept from people forgetting their glasses and not being able to find their station. Just like home!
Five more hours. One school and one Kindergarten left to visit and we’re done. Time to see the election results and of course… the world cup.
